FaxMind Server

Even though the FAX protocol was released many years ago, it's still used by a lot of companies. The latest solution is to convert faxes to email and vice-versa. Thus, you will be able to integrate a faxing service with the existing email infrastructure of your company. In order for this to be possible, you could just install and use FaxMind Server.

As its name suggests, this Windows program turns your computer into an advanced faxing server, which allows you to send and receive faxes using any regular POP3-enabled email account. After installing the program using its step by step installation wizard, the user will be presented with another wizard, which will guide him through the process of configuring the fax server.

First, he will need to enter his email address, username and password and then type some information about his company, like the company name, email address, telephone, website and so on. Next, one will need to select the database engine that will be used for handling the large number of incoming and outgoing faxes. FaxMind Server features a built-in SQL database engine, but the user can also use a separate Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL Server.

Having all this information, the program can start configuring its database. After the database has been created, the user will need to start configuring email addresses. FaxMind Server can work with almost any type of email address, including Microsoft Exchange, IMAP or POP3 and it can even integrate a Google Apps account and use its settings. After entering the required email information, you can test these settings to make sure they are in order. After making all these settings, the main interface of FaxMind Server will be displayed.

The interface resembles the one of a regular email client, showing a drop down menu and tree view in the left side, from where you can easily access incoming or outgoing faxes. Whenever an fax arrives, you are able to read it just like you would read a regular email. You are also able to print the fax using any regular printer. In case there are multiple users who need to use the application, you can create accounts for each of them and set up different access levels for each user.
